



Music Classes for Babies, Toddlers and Preschool
Join our weekly family music and movement classes for babies, toddlers and preschool with parents and caregivers! In the style of "Mommy and Me", we offer inclusive classes for families designed to foster development of musical skills while bonding with their loved ones and classmates through interactive activities including sing-along, dance-along and play-along songs and games!
COVID Safety: For safety reasons, we keep our class sizes small with a maximum of five families per class. Each family gets their own sanitized bag of instruments. We pay special attention to air circulation to ensure everyone's safety.
Located in Cresskill, NJ, we welcome families from all over Bergen County and beyond!

LITTLE ME:
BABIES & TOTS
with Ms. Marieke
Monday and Thursdays

Ms. Marieke leads our Babies and Tots classes for parents and their littlest ones to share fun interactive musical activities. The classes focus on developing a young musical ear, body and spatial awareness, language skills, social interactions, parental bonding, and more.

Ms. Marieke leads our Pre-K Family Music Classes for parents and their kids to explore musical exercises, dancing, and games that help children develop a sense of creative expression and musicianship while spending quality time with family.

Join Ms. Rachel, our folk song historian and Renaissance troubadour, for an immersive musical journey! Families and their young ones delight in learning timeless folk songs and captivating tales from the Middle Ages. Through interactive storytelling, Ms. Rachel brings history to life!

Marieke de Koker
Marieke de Koker is a multi-genre singer and performing artist with experience teaching and performing pop, rock, musical theatre, opera and children's music. Currently based in Ridgefield Park, Marieke teaches voice, piano, theatre and early childhood music. She graduated from Mannes School of Music with a Master's in Vocal Performance and Impact Entrepreneurship. She has taught at Eugene Lang College, Tunaweza Kimuziki and Musikids. Her interdisciplinary teaching philosophy is centered around the mind-body connection, fostering community, and emphasizing the importance of mental health, self-confidence and self-expression. Her approach provides a robust technical foundation while developing interpretational, performance and communication skills. A proud advocate for diversity, Marieke is a founding board member of Opéra Queens and volunteers as Publishing Team Lead of the Àkójọpọ̀ Music Foundation for Pan-African Art Music. Originally from South Africa, Marieke's musical journey has been shaped by a love for African music and African opera.

Rachel Wagman
Rachel Wagman is a multi-genre vocalist, oboist and pianist. She received a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance with a minor in Theatre Arts from SUNY Fredonia in May 2020. Rachel studied and performed at the Rocky Ridge Music Center for their Young Artist Program in the Summer of 2018. While in the Rocky Mountains, she was a camp counselor for their youth music summer session where she assisted and mentored high school students on their summer music journey. Rachel also lived in Berlin, Germany for over a year studying and performing at the Berlin Opera Academy, writing/recording music and collaborating with musicians from around the world, working with children, studying German at a language school and directing a choir. Rachel’s passion for children has led to 14 years of experience working with children in many capacities. She is currently a music teacher for children 2-12 years old at a music school in Queens, NY where she teaches general music classes, voice lessons and piano lessons. Rachel’s goal at EMC is to provide a well rounded foundation of music to children in a safe, fun and creative way enriching their developmental growth and life through music.

Rachel McDonough
Rachel McDonough is excited to share the joys of early childhood music and all things strings at EMC! She has a B.A. in History with a minor in Music from Rutgers University and is a music historian and folk song collector. She is also a soprano trained in classical voice under Dr. Melanie Mitrano. In the summer and early fall, you can see her as a singer/mandolinist at the New York Renaissance Faire. As a teacher and musician, she has worked with students of all ages - from toddler to teen, focusing on individual student interests and goals for music learning and skill development.
